Danos is pleased to announce that Rollen Prout is the 2018 recipient of the Dwain “Hog” Carrell Field Employee of the Year award. With 37 years of industry experience, Rollen joined Danos in 1997 and is currently a crane operator and foreman at HOS Port. Throughout his career, Rollen has mentored countless crew members, many of whom are now employed by Danos customers.

“Rollen motivates crews to get the job done in a safe manner, having operated for many years with an impeccable safety record. He is well respected by many and always has a smile on his face,” says Senior Account Manager Thomas Rougeau.

Born and raised in Boothville, Louisiana, Rollen graduated from Boothville-Venice High School in 1982. Upon graduating, Rollen began working as a rigger at Chevron’s Venice shorebase and worked his way up to a forklift operator, foreman and eventually a crane operator.

Crane operation is somewhat of a family tradition for Rollen, as his father, brother, uncle and cousin have all worked as crane operators.

“Family is really big in my life, so the fact that Danos is family-oriented is important,” says Rollen.

On top of family, he says that Danos has one of the best safety programs and management teams around.

After working for many years in Venice, Rollen was open to change and moved to HOS Port shorebase in Port Fourchon because he wanted to continue working with the Danos team. Customers have always praised Rollen for the job he has done, especially regarding his knowledge of shorebase operations.

On receiving the award, Rollen felt overwhelmed saying, “I never thought I would see this. It’s a good feeling to be recognized for hard work.”

Rollen also says the honor makes him want to take another step in his career.

“It’s incentivizing me to teach the younger kids the right way. The Danos way.”

Rollen and his wife Vickie live in Lafayette, where they moved from Boothville after Hurricane Katrina. They have a 27-year-old son Chancey.

A country man, in his spare time Rollen likes to hunt and fish, and he raises Brangus cattle with his brother. Their cow-calf company PNP Cattle Company has been around for 19 years.
