2020 Strategic Initiatives

Every year as the fourth quarter approaches, our executive team takes a few days to spend some intentional time thinking and planning for the upcoming year. What do we need to be aware of? What do we need to change? Where is the industry going? What do we need to focus on? These are the sort of questions that we work through to define our annual strategic action plan and ultimately, our direction for the coming year.

Notice our logo for the year and the intentional play on words. If you go to the doctor and don’t have 2020 FOCUS, the doctor is going to give you tools to recalibrate your vision so that you can effectively navigate the path ahead. As our executive team worked through the opportunities ahead of us, we realized that key to maintaining 2020 FOCUS was to “focus on being focused” and “resource for success.”

“Focus on being focused” and “resource for success” mean that it is critical that we finish what we started in 2019. We are confident that we have the right focus areas identified and completing those is key to building a foundation to position us for continued success in the future. So, until we deem those either complete or institutionalized, we are not going to shift our “focus” and “resources” onto something else and lose focus on what’s most important. 

How does 2020 FOCUS impact me, and how are we positioning ourselves for the future in our changing industry? Look at the columns from left to right in the picture below.

It is critical that we get our technology platform right to lay the foundation for everything that we do in the future. The opportunities in the Shale, specifically in the Permian, are significant to our
business. For us to be successful there, we need to ensure we have the right organization, are in the right locations and are providing outstanding service. To provide outstanding service, we need to focus on operational excellence. Our Vision is to “Become the standard for operational excellence and customer service by which every company in our industry is measured,” and that starts with effectively managing our assets, partnering with the right customers, and engaging and developing our team.

The last two columns are forward looking. Grow organizational capability or develop great people is our purpose and will be a product of having the right 2020 FOCUS. As we complete 2020 FOCUS areas and have resources available, we will begin working on the next best opportunity identified. Our business development team is researching what those opportunities are to strategically position us for the future.

Focus on being focused! Resource for success! We are confident that we have the right 2020 FOCUS to position us for success. As we build an effective foundation through our 2020 Focus, we will be much better prepared for our changing industry and able to take advantage of future opportunities.

Mark began his career at Danos in the Larose fabrication shop as a blaster / helper during his high school summers. After a long hiatus from Danos involving a stint at LSU to get his mechanical engineering degree, a year of mission work in Kenya, and 10 years with ExxonMobil doing project work around the world, Mark returned in 2013. Mark is an owner and executive responsible for project services.
