AISC Update

By: Eric Danos

Did you know that our Amelia facility is now called the Amelia Integrated Services Complex (the “AISC”)? This name better reflects our vision for the work we are doing there.

When we acquired the first tract of property in Amelia, our plan was to do larger scale fabrication to support the growth of our construction business. At that time, we were space constrained in Larose and were limited to the amount of fabrication we could handle there. This in turn was constraining our growth in construction since fabrication is a key enabler of offshore construction.

Since that time the fabrication market has declined significantly. So we recently made the decision to combine and focus our fabrication efforts to one facility. The reason we chose Amelia as the single fabrication location was for two reasons.

  • We have much greater opportunity and flexibility in Amelia to scale to any size and perform larger fabrication projects.

  • We are creating an integrated facility that supports customers through multiple lines of business, not just fabrication.

The vision for the AISC is one that is run efficiently i.e. reduced cost and where multiple lines of service are integrated to meet our customer needs i.e. increased revenues.

To help in this process, Jack Roszelle is being assigned as the Site Champion/Lead for the AISC. In this role he will be the “Focal Point” for communication back to the Gray office and will also be responsible to ensure we efficiently share people and equipment, that we effectively communicate across business units, that our processes across all businesses are aligned, and most importantly that our customers experience “One Danos” when they engage us.

Jack will retain his role as Director of Quality while he serves as Site Champion/Lead. All of the other leadership of the various business units operating in Amelia will continue their current positions and will remain in place as they have been. They will also work with Jack to ensure that the AISC becomes as efficient and effective as possible for the benefit of our customers.
