American Cancer Society Bayou Social Gala

By: The Pipeline

The Bayou Social Honoree Gala event is the fall fundraiser for Terrebonne Parish’s American Cancer Society. The evening is packed with over 400 local and regional executives, physicians, business professionals and other influential members of the community. Danos Sales Operations Analyst Melanie Toups (middle left) serves as a chairperson for the event but has been involved with the American Cancer Society for four years.

Once a team captain for the Danos Relay for Life team, Melanie Toups was asked to take on an event leadership role for the Terrebonne Parish Relay for Life event that hosts over 10,000 cancer survivors, caregivers and supporters. As she became more involved, Melanie was then nominated to serve as chairperson for the Bayou Social Honoree Gala two years in a row. When asked about the event, Toups said, “There really isn’t one thing that I could say is my favorite about this event. We have dancing, entertainment, delicious food, auctions and the presentation of the honorees. We have an amazing committee made up of local professionals who are passionate about putting on a great event for a great cause. This year was extra special for me, because I got to honor my friend, colleague and Danos Account Manager Mark King. He is truly an amazing guy.” Mark was one of 15 honorees at the 2018 American Cancer Society Bayou Social Gala and was nominated for his courage and strength in fighting cancer.
