Claude Huntsberry Institutes SWA

By: Matt Schexnayder

Claude Huntsberry, Danos production operator on Shell’s Mars platform, recently submitted a WATCH Card and instituted stop work authority (SWA) when he observed a malfunctioning air conditioning unit.

While in monitoring production levels in the the alternate emergency control center, Claude heard a noise coming from the air-conditioning unit, which was followed by sparks and smoke. The unit had a shorted-out condenser. Claude immediately contacted the control room. The offshore installation manager stopped all operations and ordered a muster until a fire team could investigate. After the investigation, an all-clear was given, and regular operations ensued.

Great job, Claude, for your commitment to Danos’ value of safety and for your bias to action!
