Coatings Cultivates Leadership from Within

By: Clay Carter

Danos was recently awarded a maintenance coatings contract aboard Shell’s Perdido platform. The coatings team seized the opportunity with this project to fulfill the Danos purpose — develop great people to solve big challenges for our customers and communities—by promoting Relief Foreman Minh Nguyen from Shell Mars to foreman on Shell Perdido , along with crew members from Mars he has experience with. Minh has been with Danos since 2013 and has spent most of his time within the Shell paint program aboard Mars, Olympus and Appomattox.

Coatings Foreman Andy Ho and Coatings Project Manager Scott Soto have played an integral part in guiding Minh Nguyen’s professional development from a helper to a foreman leading his own project. With Minh’s departure from Shell Mars, Andy and Scott will continue to develop great people by moving Michael Phan into a full-time relief foreman role. Michael started with Danos in 2013 as a helper and has been mostly assigned to Shell Mars since joining Danos in 2013. Much like Minh, he has worked his way from a helper to a relief foreman and is slowly taking the reins on becoming the next great leader in the coatings group within Shell.
