Danos Volunteers Make a Big Impact

Sixteen Danos employees had the privilege of working with Samaritan’s Purse to help residents in the flooded areas of Lafayette and Greenwell Springs to get their homes “contractor ready” and start the rebuilding process. Our employees helped alongside other volunteers in removing furniture, debris, sheetrock, insulation, among many other things.

Here are some thoughts from a few of our volunteers:

"God Bless the volunteers of Samaritan’s Purse. They are a dedicated, faith-filled group whose tireless efforts are changing lives. Their caring and organized leadership was a pleasure to work with." - Jamie Stoot

"It was a humbling experience. The day was tough, but working alongside co-workers and volunteers from different areas of the state reminded me of the importance of community." - Beth Dupre

"The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: He or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.”  My heart is full. - Theress Platt

"I would encourage others to take some time out and volunteer because this was a great experience. It confirmed for me the fact that people sometimes cling to personal items or don’t have enough time for family, especially the elders in the family. Don’t let life make you so busy or vain that you lose sight of the things that really matter in the end, everyone wants more time." - Jessica Eschete

"I am blessed to work for a company that allowed me to take part in this great experience. Not only did I get to offer my time and efforts to help out those in need, but it also helped remind me to appreciate the little things in life. What was only a few hours of my day, meant a great deal to the homeowner as he gets back on his feet to provide for his family and rebuild their home." - Mai Nguyen

Samaritan’s Purse is a national organization doing great things in these affected areas. Many houses in the Greenwell Springs and Baton Rouge areas are still in need of restoration from the August 12 flood. To learn more about this amazing organization, go to www.samaritanspurse.org.
