Giving Back

Attending the recent NaKika fundraiser are (from left): Brian Quebodeaux (BP), Ryan Luna (BP), Earl Guillory (BP), Jackie Heroman (Make-A-Wish) and Wayne Daigle (Danos).

The Gulf of Mexico's BP Na Kika team has a tradition of team building while also helping out a worthy cause. Most recently, the team raised tens of thousands of dollars for Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana.

Early Guillory, a Na Kika production operator, said it all started about seven years ago. "A group of guys were talking about what they could do to help team-building efforts and the community," Guillory said. "It started small and has grown into something big."

The team's 7th annual golf outing raised $36,171 with the help of 48 foursomes made up of BP personnel and vendors. Danos cooked for the event and Danos' Materials Coordinator on Na Kika, Wayne Daigle is on the planning team for the event.

"My wife Ruby and I have served on the golf tournament committee since 2005. We have accepted this event as our passion and help in any way we can. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been a great organization to help. The funds from our golf tournament go straight to the Make-A-Wish Gulf Coast, so all money raised stays here for all of the Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coast. We’ve enjoyed meeting some of the children who have benefited from our donations, and the whole experience has been a tremendous blessing for us, and we feel fortunate to be able to contribute." said Wayne.
