In memory of Gary Marcel

By: The Pipeline

Gary Marcel, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Schriever, Louisiana, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019. Gary joined the Danos family five months ago and began working as a mechanic at Shell’s Auger.

Gary’s only child, 23-year-old Devin, Devin is getting married in October of this year and Gary was going to be the best man in his wedding. Sadly, his loving family has dealt with two tragedies in a short time. Gary’s brother passed away on May 27.

Gary had many talents; among them was carpentry. He and Devin had been working together to fix up a home in Schriever for Devin and his fiancé, Jennifer, to live in following the wedding.

Gary had a passion for cars and for music. In 2018 he attended Jazz Fest to listen to one of his favorite bands, Aerosmith. He was a sports fan as well. His favorites were the Atlanta Braves and LSU Tigers, and he loved his New Orleans Saints.

What Gary loved most of all was his family. He once shared this quote about working offshore: “These people sacrifice more than half of their life being away from loved ones to make their dreams come true.”

That’s what Gary was trying to do Sunday morning---working offshore on Auger to help make a better life for himself and his son. Keep Gary and his family in your prayers.
