On Tuesday, August 4, Owner Eric Danos announced Human Resource Supervisor Melani Boudreaux as Danos’ 2019 Staff Employee of the Year. The presentation was made via live stream.

With nearly 14 years of human resource experience, Melani began her career at Danos in 2015 as human resource assistant. From the start she made an immediate impact on the organization; she has been nominated for the Employee of the Year Award each year since 2015.

“Melani is described as respected, hardworking, poised and committed,” said Owner Eric Danos. “These are words I would be proud for anyone to say about me, and I’m certainly proud to say that about our staff employee of the year.”

Melani called 2019 one of her most challenging years yet. She led Danos in several large endeavors, including managing the benefits transition during the Shamrock acquisition. According to Human Resource Manager Brandi Caillouet, “there was never hesitation in selecting Melani to lead this task among others. Her hard work and dedication to her job produces confidence, and she has been doing that since her start.”

In 2019 she was also asked to be the Danos point of contact for the Marcel family after the passing of employee Gary Marcel in a workplace accident. Throughout this experience, she put aside her own emotions and feelings in order to be there for the family, answer questions and make sure they received all the information they needed.

“I watched her demonstrate empathy and professionalism, and she represented Danos well during a very difficult time,” said Brandi.

“For me, this is not a job. This is a passion,” says Melani. “People are truly my passion.”

According to Eric, that passion is evident by the strength and compassion that Melani demonstrates.

“She’s a problem solver and a master of living Danos’ value of improvement. She is also a humble leader. She coaches and develops her team, encouraging people to rise up through the organization.”

Prior to joining Danos, Melani sharpened her human resource skills in the oil and gas and medical fields. She graduated from Nicholls State University with a bachelor’s degree in government.

Outside of being human resource leader extraordinaire, Melani enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband Zach live in Houma, Louisiana, and have two children, Trey, age 13, and Abigail, age seven. She also enjoys relaxing on the beach when she has the opportunity.

Given her love of family, it should come as no surprise that family is one of the things she loves most about working for Danos.

“I love coming to work at a family-owned company and witnessing the family atmosphere daily,” she says. “Seeing the Danos family in the hall as part of the company is reassuring as an employee, and it is a truly special thing.”
