Scholarships aren't just for whiz kids. They're not just for athletic prodigies. And they're also not just for the lucky few. The truth is: there are scholarships out there for everyone. Here are a few available specifically in the South Louisiana Bayou Region.
Danos Scholarships at Nicholls State University
THE DANOS FAMILY FOUNDATIONS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP [1 @ $500]: is awarded to a resident from the South Lafourche area. Because the scholarship is need-based, the recipient must be receiving a federal Pell Grant. The recipient must be enrolled at Nicholls State University as a full-time student and must have completed his or her freshman year with a GPA of 3.00 or better. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible for this scholarship. The recipient may receive the scholarship for up to six semesters provided the above criteria are met.
ALLEN J. DANOS, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to students who graduated from a public or private high school with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and a minimum ACT of 18. A home-school student must have a minimum ACT score of 21. Preference will be given to first-time freshmen and dependents of employees of Danos. The recipient must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and must be enrolled with at least 15 hours.

Each year, the Bayou Industrial Group offers scholarships to students in the Bayou Region for enrollment at Nicholls State University and Fletcher Technical-Community College's Terrebonne and Lafourche campuses. For more information, click here.
