Danos Awarded SBM Contract

By: Nicole Williams

Danos has been awarded a 15-year contract with SBM Stones LLC to provide production workforce on Turritella, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel that is part of Shell’s Stones’ development in the Gulf of Mexico.

Danos is responsible for providing workers for the project, including production and instrumentation supervisors, control room operators, and instrument technicians. Early members of the Danos crew are in Singapore where the FPSO Turritella is being readied for its third-quarter voyage to the Gulf of Mexico. Additional workforce will join the project as needed during the completion, commissioning and maintenance phases.

In 2013, Shell contracted SBM Offshore to supply and lease an FPSO for the Stones development. Shell’s Stones’ field, discovered in 2005, is an ultra-deep-water oil and gas development located 200 miles southwest of New Orleans. At approximately 9,500 feet of water, it will be the deepest production facility in the world.
