After 48 years in the oil and gas industry, Superintendent Odis Pope has retired.
During his 15+ years with Danos, he has led the maintenance team at LOOP in Galliano to much success including an incident-free operations record of almost
16 years. Prior to Danos, Odis worked and retired from Texaco after 32 years with the company.
Odis’ crew members at LOOP are very grateful to have had him as their supervisor:
“Odis is the greatest supervisor I’ve ever had. Any questions or problems I had, I could go talk to him about it. He would always guide me in the right direction.” - Roustabout Jesse Curole
“Odis is a great boss. If something ever happened, he was behind you 100%. He taught us a lot about safety and using the right tools to get the job done.” - Roustabout Dewayne Ordone
“Odis cares about his workers. He would never send someone to do a job he wouldn’t be comfortable doing himself. He taught me to be confident in my work and how to communicate with others.” - Crane Operator Chad Giroir
Production Supervisor Matthew Pere delivering a happy retirement cake to Superintendent Odis Pope.
For someone with 48 years in the oilfield, Odis has lots of stories loaded with vivid details from his past that always include a lesson to be learned.
He has been a huge part of the success at LOOP, but has always given the credit to his crew. Odis looks forward to fishing and camping more with his
family and wife, Mona.
The culture he has created will leave a lasting impact for greater things to come. We can all be grateful to have heard “Morning Mike, Odis over at LOOP” every Wednesday morning throughout the years.
